Beetle pendant

This children’s craft is perfect as a present for Mother’s Day. In the ancient Egypt, the beetle was an amulet for good luck.

Materiales

• Salt pastry
• A small knife or a very sharpened pencil
• Paint
• Varnish and a paintbrush
• A toothpick
• A thin cord

Put floor on the working surface so the salt pastry does not stick. Take a piece of salt pastry and make a little sausage. Squash it a bit.

Make a small ball of salt pastry and stick it to the beetle’s body. Make two small balls and stick them with water to make the eyes. Draw pictures in the beetle’s back with the toothprick.

Pierce the beetle’s body with the toothprick in order to make the hole to put the cord through.

Bake the beetle. Wait until it is cool and paint it turquoise, as the Egiptians amulets, or the beetle’s real colour

Varnish it. When it is dried, put the cord through the hole.
