This childrens craft is perfect as a present for Mothers Day. In the ancient Egypt, the beetle was an amulet for good luck.

- Salt pastry
- A small knife or a very sharpened pencil
- Varnish and a paintbrush
- A toothpick
- A thin cord

Put floor on the working surface so the salt pastry does not stick. Take a piece of salt pastry and make a little sausage. Squash it a bit.
Make a small ball of salt pastry and stick it to the beetles body. Make two small balls and stick them with water to make the eyes. Draw pictures in the beetles back with the toothprick.
Pierce the beetles body with the toothprick in order to make the hole to put the cord through.
Bake the beetle. Wait until it is cool and paint it turquoise, as the Egiptians amulets, or the beetles real colour
Varnish it. When it is dried, put the cord through the hole.
